The cool breeze of winter is soothing to your senses but can cause havoc to your skin. This winter, follow these simple 5 tips to prevent dryness, cracking and irritation and enjoy beautiful skin even in the cold months.

5 essential skin care regimen for a glowing skin in winter

1. Exfoliation
Dead cells tend to be dry and coarse requiring regular exfoliation, specially in the winter months. Exfoliation helps cellular regeneration and allows new and healthy skin to surface. The new skin is moist and remains hydrated for a longer time.

2. Moisturization
Moisturize your skin daily with a good moisturizer that has ingredients like shea butter, vitamin E, or  other natural hydrating element to keep your skin soft and supple during winter.  Such natural ingredients comprises of essential fatty acids required by our bodies and keep the skin moisturized the whole day.

3. Night Cream for Deep Skin Nourishment
Consider using a hydrating night cream for deep nourishment in case you have dry skin. Opt for a night creams that contain regenerating ingredients like avocado oil that would repair and penetrate deep into your skin for deep moisturization while you are asleep.

4. Wear Scarf to Protect your Face and Neck
The chilly winter breeze dries out your skin causing skin irritation and discomfort. So use a warm scarf to cover your neck, chin and cheeks. In addition, if you wear a hat or hood it would protect your forehead and head from the harsh weather.

5. Drink lots of Water
The golden rule to keep your skin hydrated is to keep your body hydrated. As reported in the Canada’s Food Guide, consume at least 30 to 45 mL (2 to 3 tbsp.) of unsaturated fats and oils everyday and drink  9 to 13 cups of water each day to keep your skin hydrated.

Most important tip is to stay happy and stress-free for a beautiful and glowing skin.

Stretch marks, are a form of skin scarring most commonly associated with pregnancy,  short-term weight gain/loss from physical activities, obesity, and puberty. Stretch marks come form when the the middle layer of the skin that maintains shape and elasticity becomes stretched more than it can tolerate. Connective skin fibers eventually break causing scarring.

Disclaimer: 1st Green Clean and our associates are in no way guaranteeing that this method will remove or cure stretch marks.

Stretch Mark Scrub Recipe

3 Tbsp white sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
¼ C whole milk

Place the ingredients into a bowl.  Thoroughly mix the ingredients.  Saturate a body brush with the mixture and brush it onto the troubled area.

Are You Ready To Stop Playing Small?

11/12/2013

By Guest Blogger Peggy Nolan

“The secret of success is consistency of purpose.” ~ Benjamin Disraeli

I’m ready to go big and bold and I’m wondering how many of you are, too. I’m ready to break the bonds of my own small and limited thinking and I’m wondering if you are, too. I’m ready to spread my wings, take flight, and soar. And I’m wondering if you are, too. I’m ready to leave the well worn trail and blaze a path of my own. And I’m wondering if you are, too.

Nearly all of us – you, me, and everyone else – are playing life small. We’re overwhelmed with daily doings, daily demands, daily obligations, and those pesky little things called expectations. I’m not a Human DOing and neither are you. We’re Human BEings and it’s time we BE more and DO less. In order for me to blaze a path of my own, I must BE more and DO less. Talk about a shift in perspective that begs the question, “how can you be more if you do less?”

Part of doing less is not saying YES to every request that crosses my path. Part of BEing more means I focus on my end game. Part of doing less and being more is about making the choices and decisions that are in complete harmony and alignment with my end game. For me to BE more, what I do, why I do it, and how I do it must support my end game.

My end game is pretty simple but will remain largely unknown to the vast majority of human doings. Dreamstealers and naysayers walk among us and I won’t allow that distraction. But I will tell you that part of my end game is to retire from corporate America early – within the next 4-5 years. I am blessed to have the support of angel friends, like Janet Powers, and the amazing support of my husband. It’s time for me to stop mistaking busy for important. It’s time for me to stop mistaking someone elses urgent problem or priority as something that trumps my own important priorities (this doesn’t mean I’m not going to help others, it just means I need to prioritize the needs and wants of others better.)

Yoga Sutra 1-14 “It is only when the correct practice is followed for a long time, without interruptions and with a quality of positive attitude and eagerness, that it can succeed.” ~ Pantajali (translated by T.K.V. Desikachar, The Heart of Yoga)

If I’m going to reach my end game, it’s time for me to cultivate single-minded focus (correct practice) and eliminate shiny object syndrome (interruptions).

I’m ready.

Are you?

Your mission today is to answer this question in the comments section: How will you do less so you can be more?

Raise Your Energetic Vitality by Blessing Your Meals

The word “pray” is the Greek word “προσενχομαι - proseuchomai” which means “to give thanks.”

When you create time in your day for prayer you will fill your mind with wisdom, peace, strength, unity, joy and gratitude.

Everything is made up of energy!

Our bodies are always vibrating at different frequencies depending on how we are feeling or what we are doing.  When we say a prayer over our food, we are naturally in a positive state of mind and centered in a loving heart.  This is because when we create time in our day for prayer we fill our mind with wisdom, peace, strength, unity, joy and gratitude.

The feeling of gratitude and appreciation brings the energy of God into our food and therefore into our body!  Eating in this heightened state makes it easier for our body to assimilate the nutrients and brings the most enjoyment to the meal.

So take the time to bless your food not as a mere ritual, but with conscious appreciation and gratitude.  It’s so unfortunate that “Saying Grace” in so many homes, has become a forgotten practice.  For me, praying before eating is a time of letting go of the day and being in the present moment with complete awareness and gratitude for the gift of my food.

I use this sacred time to be present and fully conscious of not only the food I am about to eat but also the blessing of sharing a meal with those I love if they are joining me.

Whenever I say a blessing over my food, I am also grateful for the earth where it was grown.

I give thanks to every person that has come in contact with my food over the course of its growing.

I think about all the positive impact my food has for so many different people each day.

As a part of my prayer, I also ask for it to be in the best condition for my body and that my body take in the nutrients I will need.

Blessing the entire process shows love for many life forms and helps us become more mindful human beings.

Meal Time Prayer:

Dear God –

Thank You for this food.  May it be raised to its highest energetic capacity for total healing, happiness and vitality.  I am so grateful to all that helped it to grow and for everything and everyone that worked to bring it to my plate.  May my body process it easily and may it contribute to serving my highest purpose in the light of love and well-being.

Amen

How To Open Up Your Energy Flows – De-Clutter

10/29/2013

By 1st Green Clean Guest Blogger: Kathy Hadley

Having too much clutter or an unclean or untidy environment is an outward sign of the stuck flows of creative energy in your life.

This is one of the easiest and fastest ways to open up the flows of more good in your life.

I’m going to tell you how to de-clutter & clean the easy way.

Most people do it backwards and therefore get slowed down and maybe even don’t get it done.

Here is the easy way.

First, just clear the space.

Don’t try to clean around the clutter .

Don’t start sorting right away.

Don’t look at it.

Don’t do anything else with the clutter and everything in the space.

Just remove it.

Remove all the clutter from the closet, room, counter, cabinet or whatever area you are about to clean and put it all in a box, then clean the area & only put back what you want.

Then, only AFTER you have cleaned the space and have it how you want, go through all the rest and sort what you want to keep or get rid of.

This method words wonders and makes doing the de-cluttering so much faster and easier.

Most people go in and start to sort through everything first and that is mentally and physically exhausting and is also why they stay cluttered and un-tidy.

I have had coaching clients use this method and it made a job that they couldn’t get done for years something they get done in one day.

Then, once the area is clean, set up a bin or shelf or area that you say is your limit for that stuff.

By stuff, I mean whatever it is that tends to accumulate for you.

If it is books, then have a space for books.

If it is mail, have a space for mail.

If it is clothes, have a space for clothes.

If you have a collection, then have a space for the collection.

In other words, once that area is full you will have to get rid of something or put it in storage (and I even suggest that you limit the storage space.)

That physical limit of the box or shelf not only keeps the space organized but it gives you a visual method of limiting what you have in your space.

Less IS more!

This system works and makes you feel good!

BUT MOST importantly it frees up the Spiritual and Mental STUCK energy in your life which then allows the free flow of more good and wanted to come into your life.

I literally have helped a lot of people with this and almost every one had been stuck in the overflow of clutter for years.

Once it is done, it is very simple to keep it this way.
