The word “pray” is the Greek word “προσενχομαι - proseuchomai” which means “to give thanks.”
When you create time in your day for prayer you will fill your mind with wisdom, peace, strength, unity, joy and gratitude.
Everything is made up of energy!
Our bodies are always vibrating at different frequencies depending on how we are feeling or what we are doing. When we say a prayer over our food, we are naturally in a positive state of mind and centered in a loving heart. This is because when we create time in our day for prayer we fill our mind with wisdom, peace, strength, unity, joy and gratitude.
The feeling of gratitude and appreciation brings the energy of God into our food and therefore into our body! Eating in this heightened state makes it easier for our body to assimilate the nutrients and brings the most enjoyment to the meal.
So take the time to bless your food not as a mere ritual, but with conscious appreciation and gratitude. It’s so unfortunate that “Saying Grace” in so many homes, has become a forgotten practice. For me, praying before eating is a time of letting go of the day and being in the present moment with complete awareness and gratitude for the gift of my food.
I use this sacred time to be present and fully conscious of not only the food I am about to eat but also the blessing of sharing a meal with those I love if they are joining me.
Whenever I say a blessing over my food, I am also grateful for the earth where it was grown.
I give thanks to every person that has come in contact with my food over the course of its growing.
I think about all the positive impact my food has for so many different people each day.
As a part of my prayer, I also ask for it to be in the best condition for my body and that my body take in the nutrients I will need.
Blessing the entire process shows love for many life forms and helps us become more mindful human beings.
Meal Time Prayer:
Dear God –
Thank You for this food. May it be raised to its highest energetic capacity for total healing, happiness and vitality. I am so grateful to all that helped it to grow and for everything and everyone that worked to bring it to my plate. May my body process it easily and may it contribute to serving my highest purpose in the light of love and well-being.
Amen
